RIVER MISSISSIPPI TERRITORY — Forty-four U.S. states, including nine in the RMT, will get part of a total of $124 million for projects aimed at growing renewable energy and fertilizer production, the USDA’s boss announced today.

Secretary Tom Vilsack said over $120 million will be directed to projects with goals to lower the cost of energy, generate new income, and create more jobs, according to a USDA news release.

The release says this is part of the Biden-Harris’s administration plan to back up U.S. farmers, ranchers, agricultural producers and rural small businesses.

The funding was announced today at the University of Nebraska-Omaha under the umbrella of bolstering rural communities nationwide.

Most of the 44 projects will be covered by President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act as part of the Rural Energy for America Program and the Fertilizer Production Expansion Program, the release adds.

“The investments announced today will expand access to renewable energy systems and domestic fertilizer, all while creating good-paying jobs and saving people money that they can then invest back into their businesses and communities,” Vilsack added in the news release.
