Tennessee Woman Indicted for Shooting Death of Her Son

TENNESSEE — A woman who resides 60 miles northeast of Nashville has been indicted for the shooting death of her son, according to a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation news release.

Trena Roberts, 49, of Lafayette, Tenn., was indicted by a Smith County Grand Jury on charges of reckless homicide and two counts of aggravated assault.

Roberts’ son, 21-year-old Theodore Taylor, was fatally shot Jan. 30 at a home on Rawls Creek Road in Gordonsville 50 miles east of Nashville.

The TBI investigation found that Roberts allegedly caused Taylor to, “commit an assault against two men by use or display of a deadly weapon, and caused one of those men to recklessly kill Taylor.”

Roberts was arrested Aug. 7 two days after she was indicted and booked into the Smith County Jail on a $40,000 bond, the release states.
