Ardent Health Services of Brentwood, TN in a statement today said a cybersecurity incident several days prior was a ransomware attack.
The company, which owns some 30 hospitals, says it responded swiftly to the incident and contacted law enforcement.
However, Ardent says it cannot confirm how serious the incident was to patient health and financial data.
Some non-emergent procedures are being rescheduled out of an abundance of caution and some emergency room patients were being sent to area hospitals while computer systems got back online.
