Missouri Gov. Mike Parson and U.S. Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo., today announced almost $100 million to improve Interstate-70.
Truck parking, work zone safety and workforce development upgrades will be made, all geared toward adding another I-70 lane.
Show-Me State Gov. Parson noted that this nearly $93 million grant follows “a historic investment” of $2.8 billion to add a third I-70 lane in Missouri.
“We thank Congressman Graves for his leadership in securing this grant, the largest transportation grant Missouri has ever received,” Parson said in a news release.
Missouri’s current-year budget allocates $2.8 billion to overhaul three lanes in each direction for 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
“Thanks to the leadership of Congressman Graves, this grant award acknowledges the national importance of the Improve I-70 corridor,” said MoDOT Director Patrick McKenna.
