MISSOURI — A Kansas City man was sentenced to 16 years in prison without parole Tuesday for his role in a meth trafficking conspiracy, DEA officials say.

Almost 45 pounds of meth were distributed in the Kansas City metro area as part of the conspiracy.

Keith A. Clevenger, 51, was sentenced in U.S. District Court this week after previously admitting to buying 2.6 pounds of meth from another person involved in the conspiracy, according to a DEA news release.

Clevenger also fled police on foot after a traffic stop. At the time of his capture, Clevenger was found to be in possession of over 25 grams of meth and a .40-caliber handgun.

He was the 13th and final defendant sentenced in the case, the news release states.

Another defendant, Nicholas A. Taylor, was sentenced last year to 19 years in prison without parole.

Taylor, 41, of Kansas City, admitted to buying over 50 pounds of meth in California in 2020. The meth was brought back to Kansas City and distributed to other co-defendants, the release says.
