Third fatality in less than a month on Toledo Bend Reservoir
LOUISIANA — Wildlife and fisheries authorities in Louisiana are investigating the death of a man whose body was found without a life jacket in a reservoir near his capsized boat.
This marks at least the third fatality on the Louisiana side of the Toledo Bed Reservoir, which straddles the Texas state line as two others were found dead in May.
Officials say it is also unknown what caused the Texas man’s boat to flip over in the Toledo Bend Reservoir a week ago.
The body of 64-year-old John T. Martin Jr. was discovered June 10 by Louisiana Department of Fish and Wildlife agents.
Martin was last seen June 8 launching his boat on the Texas side of reservoir to set trot lines and was reported missing the next day.
He was found near his capsized 14-foot aluminum boat on the Louisiana side of the reservoir two days after he was last seen.
