Mother, Live-In Boyfriend Arrested After Child With ‘Severe Injuries’ Dies at Nashville Hospital This Morning, Investigators Say

Man Also Charged With Criminal Homicide in Aggravated Child Abuse Case

TENNESSEE — A man and woman from a Tennessee town of about 720 and two hours northeast of Memphis were arrested today after a severely injured 14-month-old child died this morning at a Nashville hospital.

The man was charged with criminal homicide in the child’s death while both he and the woman were also each charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect.

The 18-year-old Hollow Rock woman, Sara Earnestine Durrance, who is the mother of the deceased child, Shiloh Durrance, was jailed in Carroll County with a $100,000 bond, and her live-in boyfriend, Zachary Taylor Gray, 20, was held without bond.

The child death investigation was conducted by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents and Carroll County detectives, according to a TBI news release.
