UNITED STATES — The United States continues to roll out details of a health insurance plan the mail service’s employees and their families are expected to start benefiting from on Jan. 1, 2025.

Officials this month announced a list of USPS workers who’ve made formal application for the individual and family health plans with Postal Service Health Benefits.

This comes after the Postal Service Reform Act of 2022, which will medically cover 1.9 million employees, “annuitants,” and their eligible family members starting on Day 1 of 2025, or in just over eight months.

“The Postal Service Health Benefits Program will offer robust health benefits for Postal employees and their families,” said OPM Director Kiran Ahuja, “adding, “This program improvement is only possible thanks to carrier participation and the tireless work of USPS and our OPM team.”

Over 30 carriers’ applications have already been largely approved except for final negotiations, according to an Office of Personnel Management news release issued about a week ago.

Overall, it will cover roughly 20 percent of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, the release noted.
