Six Arrested for Hunting Contest Fraud in Louisiana

Accused of entering wild hogs caught in Texas into Louisiana contests

LOUISIANA — Six suspects were arrested by Louisiana wildlife agents for allegedly committing hunting contest fraud, officials said today.

The suspects allegedly entered wild hogs they caught in Texas into Louisiana hunting contests they ended up winning in Caldwell and Bienville parishes.

But the contest rules required the hogs be caught in Louisiana on the specified contest dates, according to a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries news release issued today.

The six suspects turned themselves in after agents became aware of the alleged fraud, which carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $3,000 fine.

Arrested on hunting contest fraud and criminal conspiracy were: Trace Davis, 30, of Longville, Hunter Webb, 27, of Pitkin, Colby Bushnell, 26, of Dry Creek, Davy Haymon, 35, of Pitkin, Nathan Granger, 34, of Vinton, and Don Pollard Jr., 40, of Pitkin.
